Universe & U

leave a comment »

Sara Ramirez and Jessica Capshaw sang Universe & U originally by KT Tunstall on the musical episode of Grey’s Anatomy. It’s an amazing song with powerful lyrics. Given the situation they were both placed in; Arizona Robbins by Calliope Torres bedside, waiting for her wake up; Callie sedated due to multiple surgeries caused by an accident.

I’m not gonna lie… I was tearing up like no other.

You know there’s no need to hide away
You know I tell the truth
We are just the same
I can feel everything you do
Hear everything you say
Even when you’re miles away
Cause I am me, the universe and you

To Live

Words I live by:

THE THOUGHT
To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not, rich; to listen to stars and birds, babes and sages, with open heart; to study hard; to think quietly, act frankly, talk gently, await occasions, hurry never; in a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common

Get It Right

leave a comment »

What have I done?
I wish I could run away from this ship going under
Just trying to help, hurt everyone else
Now I feel the weight of the world is on my shoulders

What can you do when your good isn’t good enough?
When all that you touch tumbles down
‘Cause my best intentions keep making a mess of things
I just want to fix it somehow
But how many times will it take
Or how many times will it take for me to get it right

Can I start again?
With my fate again?
Cause I can’t go back and endure this
I just have to stay and face my mistakes
But if I get stronger and wiser
I’ll get through this

So I throw up my fists, throw a punch in the air
And accept the truth that sometimes life isn’t fair
I send out a wish, I send up a prayer
That finally, someone will see, how much I care

I Can’t Think Straight

leave a comment »

Every night I empty my heart, but by morning it’s full again.
Slow droplets of you seep in through the night’s soft caress.
At dawn I overflow with thoughts of us,
An aching pleasure that gives me no respite
Love cannot be contained, the neat packaging of desire Splits asunder, spilling crimson through my days
Long, languishing days that are now bruised tender with yearning
Spent searching for a fingerprint, a scent, a breath you left behind.

I first heard this poem from the movie I Can’t Think Straight starring Lisa Ray and Sheetal Sheth. I’ve read it multiple times and it still baffles me at how much one line can change. I read it and what I initially thought as the definite meaning of the poem ends up differing after reading it again. Poems are crazy. This one is no exception. You can hate it. I know a lot of people do. But without it… where would part of our souls linger?

Can’t Stop Won’t Stop

I feel like my body is running and I can’t keep up and  I just want the world to stop for a few seconds so I can figure out where I am.

Sharpie

I must say, I am trying to live my life with a sharpie marker approach. You can’t erase the strokes you’ve made, but each step is much bolder and more deliberate.

Fire and Ice

leave a comment »

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
Having tasted of desire,
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if the world should perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate,
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great,
And would suffice.

–Robert Frost

This isn’t the first time I’ve seen this poem by Robert Frost called “Fire and Ice”. Popping up in the least expected places seems to be its job. However, it goes without saying that no matter what mood I’m in or what I’m doing, reading this poem always doesn’t hesitate to strike me in the oddest way… and at times, ending with a blaze.

Artistic Freedom

leave a comment »

It all started in the midst of an obsession. Months of trying to control something in me I couldn’t even begin to describe. My body… my mind… every part of my being was trying to release something that had never dared showed itself before. This novel presence left me with questions, concerns and more than anything… a convoluted sense of inspiration. I honestly didn’t know what was happening to me. Then one day, it all made sense.

If one were to believe in astrology, Taureans can create beautiful and inspirational things as they have a natural talent for aesthetics. They can be excellent actors, artists, and photographers.

It was then when I realized all along, this entity wrapped and tangled around my core bursting to free itself from the confines from which it was so placed unintentionally was finally being awoken… by my muse.

It all started with an obsession. What came out of it was Artistic Freedom.
